RESISTANCE

war breeds terrorism - poverty breads terrorism.
both are caused by arrogant governments/corporations,
and your leaders can’t protect you.
war on soldiers.
war on weak nations.
war on the poor, women and children.
war on forest and fields.

what the average person doesn’t understand is that there is a new world wide commitment to non-violence. 

LEARNING ABOUT THESE THREE EXPRESSIONS IS JUST AS ESSENTIAL AS EDUCATING YOURSELF ABOUT ISSUES.

• “consciousness raising" relieves vague uneasiness by broadening a sense of issues.
• “civil disobedience” is venerable, necessary and non-violent.
• “affinity groups” are proof against instigators, leaders and "politicized" agendas.

many european countries have a green party, and many of them have become revisionist, but there is no strong movement in america because it is so difficult to overcome the MASSIVE political machinery. the violent Red Guard is not a group to emulate, though they see their role as necessary, but one faction blew up a new prison designed to psychologically isolate prisoners,  running through the entire building after setting the charges, to make doubly sure no one was present. how many americans know that in europe there is a massive movement to stop road building, where thousands gather and sit in the road.

september 19, 1981. the a.f.l.-c.i.o. sponsors a march of 250,000 in washington, d.c. as a Solidarity Day with polish strikers.  see under "corporations", president reagan's  response to striking air traffic controllers at the same time.

november 17, 1981. escaped convicts in poland  enter their 16th month of sitting atop a 140 ft. smoke stack at zaleze prison.

"greenham common women's peace camp", for women only, was started in 1982 as a permanent camp to protest nuclear weapons at an english air force base occupied by americans. it lasted for years.  eight other such camps sprung up, with a time line that extended for

minutes after 9/11 a business man from india is taken from a plane in texas and is flown all the way to new york city. when he protests he's gruffly told, "anyone can get a fake passport". its just too bad he had brown skin.

in a completely spontaneous uprising engendered by endless lies about neighborhood improvement, shoulder to shoulder working class blokes, feminists, students, immigrants, dreadlocks and punks throw up barricades and loot shops making a scene even the army couldn't quell. there was a lot of sanity present: one foolish newsman approached the barricades and asked a working class bruiser, "what do these people want?"  he replied, not mildly, "why are you asking about them? why don't you ask me why i'm here?"

south africa changed without outside help. 

ecology used to be “extremist,” now in small towns everywhere even the elderly will take you to task for littering. 

americans have been carefully shielded from that fact that in the late sixties there was almost a complete socialist revolution in france, not just by students but all classes of people. read "the almost revolution" by allan priaulx and "obsolete communism" by daniel + gabriel cohn-bendt.

europe has a much stronger tradition of effective strikes by unions of all types.

born in berkely,california sept 29, 1964 at the university of california. the major motivation was that it was standard practice at colleges across the country that:
        (1) no current issues were ever discussed.
        (2) attempts to bring current issues into even a sociology class were actively
                          suppressed.
one professor was quoted as saying, "this isn't the place for that" and that students were "unwashed and ungrateful." this one group changed the whole academic atmosphere in america in a way that was absolutely essential.
