first a little history. the mccarthy era, 1948-54. a u.s.a. federal congressman led a rabidly emotional campaign against communism in the u.s.a. based on vicious browbeating, implications without proof and wild distortions of evidence, inflaming the entire country. countless lives and careers were destroyed, if not by direct action then innuendo and social pressure. people who were declared innocent lost jobs at leading universities, or, unwilling to implicate friends, were totally blacklisted from their profession. this period only ended when it was clearly proved mccarthy's charges and "lists of communists"

these were times, centered around the two world wars, when thousands were rounded up without even court proceedings, many merely because of their obvious ethnicity, and deported. many were dragged right from their homes and severely roughed up. a similar number of home grown suspects were jailed on as little evidence. people who merely visited those arrested were jailed on the spot. professors lost their jobs for teaching from the same textbook they had used for years. all union organizing, by people who were simply seeking a living wage, was conveniently labeled “communistic” by the rich, and was brutally suppressed by the police, public and private. there were famous SHOW TRIALS were every principle of legal procedure was blatantly ignored. one federal and five state legislators who had been elected by the people were refused their seats. there were a few scattered bombs. historians charles and mary beard said the times

eugene debs was a midwest grocer’s son who became an early union organizer. his major strikes, like those of many early organizers, were undertaken NOT for increased benefits, but TO PREVENT PAY CUTS. after many failures he became a socialist, railing against the basic structure of society, where the “MASTER CLASS” on top controlled EVERY ASPECT of a supposedly free country. during the first world war he was tried under the misnamed new “ESPIONAGE ACT,” which was used not to ferret out subversives or spies, but simply to REPRESS ALL DISSENT. at age 65 he was sentenced to ten years. he was pardoned by the succeeding administration, having served three years, and died five years later. for a skinny, geeky guy he had a really slick wife.

historically, this philosophy was formulated by people who witnessed the originally idealistic communism become subverted by egotistical individuals and a burgeoning massive bureaucracy. a better shot but still pretty boring, because it contained no rounded concept of culture. it became susceptible to the same factionalism as communism.

nicola sacco and bartlomeo vanzetti were two italian immigrant working men and professed anarchists. neither had any police record and one had been an honor student before his arrival in america. they were questioned regarding two payroll robberies, one of which involved a murder. in the case of the first robbery, sacco had been at work, but vanzetti was convicted even though 30 witnesses placed him elsewhere. in the second case, both were convicted, even though, again, witnesses placed them elsewhere. they were in jail 6 years awaiting execution, in which time even more evidence came to light of their innocence. while turning down appeals the same judge freely referred to them as “dagos” and “sons of bitches,” and was overheard at a sports event to say, “did you see what I did to those anarchist bastards?” louis stark of the new york times said the judge expressed to him an overwhelming abhorrence of foreigners. they were condemned to death.

THE MASSECHUSETTS SUPREME COURT UPHELD THE VERDICTS.

there was a board of review that examined the case on which sat the presidents of harvard and MIT. it was found that many prosecution witnesses recanted their testimony, and one man testified he had heard the man who was to become jury foreman say, “dam them, they ought to hang anyway.” THE BOARD FOUND NOTHING WRONG.

the most important point to understand is that after their captures both people were the subject of intense propaganda by the federal government aimed at discrediting their ideas. both were portrayed as selfish, mentally defective “loose cannons” whose actions did not relate in any way to society at large. contrarily, though it’s not cool to kill people, both were articulate and generally considerate people who felt themselves to be forced into their actions.

the first thing to understand about him is that he has about double the normal intelligence, which is an extremely non-trivial fact. whatever else can be said about his personality, he is not the mumbling, fantasy obsessed loner that is the typical violently anti-social criminal. he spent the major portion of his life in an intense academic environment where he was highly respected, and until relatively late in his life hewed to the straight and narrow in his life style and personal conduct. at some point, through experience and long consideration, what occurred to him, as it has to many people and great philosophers, is a basic reduction of modern social philosophy to a single stark formula, namely that industrial society BY NECESSITY requires a subserviant class, that its requirement for large concentrations of populations creates a soul destroying seperation from nature, and that its unchecked appetite not only ravages the environment but may well destroy it. it seems to be true, though only from very scanty public record, that after a while he suffered from the severe alienation that he himself described. therein lies the crux. instead of marshalling his considerable talents for positive change, he embarked on a personal, and hence ultimately ineffective, crusade against those he saw as the central perpetrators of the latest phase of industrial society, the conscienceless technologists who sell their skills to industrialists.

(2) kazinski was portrayed as a wild man lunatic ranting to himself in a rustic cabin. you need look no further for counter examples than thoreau or the quakers, or, dare we say, jesus christ, all of whom recommend simplicity as the basis of an honest life. (3) kazinski’s appointed council ignored every single directive from him and sought a defense based on an INSANITY PLEA, for which there was ABSOLUTELY no basis. shorn of the hype and fanfare, that is the truth of what happened.

timothy mcveigh- the oklahoma city bombing
the person
mcveigh had a respectable if not stellar background. tim and his pop were roman catholics who often attended daily mass, but he "sort of lost touch with" catholicism. he was single, and while his work record was irregular he was not a typically anti-social type, but simply unsettled, a pattern in no way unusual for people of his economic class. he spent a considerable time in the military, were he was highly respected. in may 1988, he enlisted in the u.s. army, and served in the gulf war, where he was awarded a bronze star medal. he served at fort riley, kansas, before operation desert storm, where he completed the primary leadership development course (PLDC). he said he was shocked

to be ordered to execute surrendering prisoners,
and to see
carnage on the road leaving kuwait city,

the infamouse “highway of death,” after u.s. troops hadrouted the iraqi army. [ see the TOP RIGHT picture and its explanation on page # 9, “iraq and madness.” ] he saw how arrogantly the occupying army treated the CIVILIANS, and that the war was PURELY ABOUT OIL. mcveigh received an honorable discharge from the army reserve in may 1992. back in civilian life, he developed a very tenuous relationship with militias and spent time on the gun show circuit, and experimented with methamphetamine, and it is alleged but not proven that some of his associates were heavy users and manufacturers. consequently, he was severely disturbed by the government’s actions in two incidents, the WHOLESALE ASSAULTS on the waco, texas religious compound of david koresh’s branch davidians, and that at the ruby ridge country FAMILY HOME of randy weaver, of a apocalyptic religious and militia persuasion. both of these incidents had genuine complexities that were exploited by various sides, but in both instances congress itself examined the events and found the DoJ grievously at fault.

we KILLED people who were DOING NOTHING - but we’re NOT GUILTY.
in both cases, months afterward at court proceedings the DoJ attempted to withhold and censor documents showing their culpability.

here are capsule descriptions of both events:

Waco.
first of all, the branch davidians are not of themselves a cult, but simply one more tedious offshoot of christianity, with communities all over the world. koresh, however, was your typical cultist, preying emotionally and sexually on the usual gaggle of the uneducated and desperate. he was strongly both anti-government and secretive. there is no doubt that some members were emotionally, but not physically, coerced into not leaving. ATF agents turned down a direct invitation given months before the assault, in which koresh spoke with the agents by phone and asked that they come talk with him about their concerns. he also had said that he was willing to “defend himself” against intrusions [emphasis by the eds. the government claimed (1) that people were being held against their will, (2) that children were being molested, (3) that there was a metha-amphetamine lab in the compound, and (4) that there was a huge store of illegal weapons. THERE WAS NEVER ANY EVIDENCE FOR ANY OF THIS. one psychiatrist thought there was a serious possibility of some sort of abuse. what angered the government was that THEY WANTED TO BE LEFT ALONE. claiming further that (5) the situation was urgent, and (6) because of the supposed cache of weapons, there was no choice but to begin a MASSIVE ASSAULT, which included hundreds of agents, automatic weapons, and most bizarrely, TANKS. a fact not widely publicized was that koresh

took a daily jog around the perimeter of the compound,
which route closely paralleled public roads where
government agents were stationed.
- SO WHY NOT JUST GRAB HIM?

a huge fire resulted, which
KILLED 76 people, including 21 children.
the government used CS gas grenades, which generate the gas through combustion, which also turns some of the gas into cyanide, and some of the bodies showed signs of convulsions. CS itself is illegal, which did not seem to bother the DoJ. the government claimed it was set by cult members in a fit of apocalyptic self sacrifice, but news footage exists, lasting less than 51 seconds, carried by only one station, SHOWING A TANK SHOOTING FIRE INTO ONE OF THE BUILDINGS. the DoJ claims the light in the footage is a reflection from aluminum construction flashing, metal used to ensure a waterproof fit, that the tank had dislodged. this footage was rescued by the rabidly funny comedian and social critic bill hicks, and is commonly available on the web.

Ruby Ridge
randy weaver was a homebody and family man and not uneducated, even if he was an anti-government militia wacko. by this we mean that there are better ways to be anti-government than walling yourself off from the entire planet and all it has to offer, and hanging out with your racist buddies that think polishing rifles “is as good as it gets,” (pardon the mild sarcasm.) randy weaver served in the u. s. army special forces at fort bragg, north carolina during the vietnam war, and was promoted to the rank of sergeant, while vicki weaver had worked for the united way of america. in 1986 randy attended the world congress of aryan nations at their headquarters near hayden lake, and attended at least three major aryan nations events. at the time the 1992 siege took place, the weavers had four children, sara, 16, sammy, 14, rachel, 10, and elisheba, 10 months, and with them was their friend friend kevin harris. he was into the whole nine yards: paying as little taxes as possible, not filling out forms, right to bear arms, home education, micro-local government, anti-liberal/jewish/government conspiracy, heavily distorted fundamentalist christianity, and no darkies need apply. NONE OF THIS IS ILLEGAL. ok, in a few instances, he got caught skimping on taxes and at one time had a few unregistered weapons. this happens with thousands of people without any serious repercussions.

with the ONLY EXCUSE being a spurious gun charge, and while he was away from all his malitia buddies, what the government did was SET UP A SEIGE AT HIS HOME. here’s this man, with his wife and very small children, out in the woods not bothering anyone, and

THEY’RE SHOOTING AT HIM WITH HIGH POWERED RIFLES.

in the months leading up to the incident, weaver had failed to appear in court to answer charges relating to possession of an illegally shortened sawed-off shotgun, the weapon being under regulation length
by one eigth of an inch,
and the u.s. marshals service was directed to serve a warrant for his arrest. he later claimed the warrant gave the wrong date. hidden cameras were installed throughout the weaver property.

his son samuel was in the woods with a pet dog hunting when federal agents shot samuel's dog, sparking a firefight which resulted in the deaths of samuel and u.s. marshal william degan. one or more marshals returned fire, shooting sam in the arm and shooting him in the back as he ran back up the hill. harris then shot and killed marshal william degan, and retreated up the hill himself, where he found sammy.

as a result of this firefight, federal agents decided to storm the house. the next day, the fbi hostage rescue team (HRT) changed its usual rules of engagement, stating specifically that "deadly force can and should be used against any armed adult male if the shot could be taken without a child being injured," EVEN BEFORE an announcement that the weavers were surrounded and requesting their surrender.

while he was lifting the latch on a shed to visit the dead body of sammy weaver with others, fbi sniper lon horiuchi shot and wounded weaver in the right arm, then as randy, his 16-year-old daughter sara, and harris ran back to the house, horiuchi shot vicki weaver, who was

standing behind a door, unarmed and
holding her 10-month-old baby elishiba in her arms.

the stand-off ended with a truce arrangement, after which weaver and harris were arrested.

we take care of our own
weaver was acquitted of all charges, except missing his original court date and violation of his bail conditions, for which he was sentenced to 18 months and fined $10,000. credited with time served, weaver spent an additional 4 months in prison. harris was acquitted of all charges. surviving members of the weaver family filed a wrongful death suit and randy received a $100,000 settlement while his daughters received $1 million each.

a justice department review later found the second shot was unconstitutional and the lack of a request to surrender was "unprecedented" and "inexcusable", since harris and the two weavers were running for cover and could not pose an imminent threat, and was also found unconstitutional. it specifically blamed horiuchi for firing at the door, not knowing whether someone was on the other side of it, along with those who had decided on the special rules of engagement allowing shots to be fired with no request for surrender.

in 1997, the boundary county, idaho district attorney charged horiuchi with involuntary manslaughter, but the indictment was removed to federal jurisdiction based on the supremacy clause. the
indictment was dismissed.
the dismissal was reversed by an en banc panel of the 9th circuit court of appeals. shortly after the 9th circuit issued its decision, the
prosecutor moved to dismiss the case,
and the u.s. district dourt granted the motion on June 26, 2001.

the GUBMINT
first, the government investigation was bumbling. a good possibility exists that there was another person involved, but it couldn’t find him. look, this guy wants to blow up a federal building and what does he use? a rental truck! he can’t even steal one. we’re not talking genius here. but he was not un-educated. another list of PURE PROPAGANDA by GOVERNMENT and MEDIA: (1) mcveigh was portrayed as a wacko militia member but they never proved this, (2) he was held to be a loose canon incapable of gaining anyone’s respect, but in actuality served with distinction in the military, (3) he was portrayed as unemployable, when he SIMPLY had no steady MIDDLE CLASS career, as stated above, (4) he was portrayed as illiterate, yet he could RECITE LONG PASSAGES FROM FAMOUS AMERICAN HISTORICAL FIGURES, and could WRITE EXTENDED LUCID, MEASURED LETTERS AND PAPERS. he also, unfortunately, thought highly of the “turner diaries,” a fictional account of a white civil war to “take back” america, which along with the equally fictional, but much older, anti-jewish screed, “the protocals of the elders of zion,” are the two bibles of the low brow right,

(5) all mention of his MOTIVATION –iraq, waco, ruby ridge –
was either DOWN PLAYED or TOTALLY EXCLUDED

in order to keep funding going and divert any blame, there was an overwhelming campaign, outside of nasa, to convince americans that during the challenger disaster, where the space shuttle fell in flames from the sky, that the astronauts, including the first civillian in space, school teacher Christa McAuliffe, were dead before it happened and not burning alive as they fell. there was absolutely no proof for this and even the likelihood is low, but what is sure is that the campaign was very highly orchestrated, with carefully worded press releases flooding all media, which in itself cost millions of dollars. caltech, the brains behind nasa, and the companies they hired were not responsible. an engineer from the subcontracter that manufactured the boosters informed nasa that there were serious doubts about the functionality of the 0-rings under low temperatures.

WE'RE NICE GUYS
the concept of the "soft sell", or, getting people to think you're really a nice guy. no matter how many times the f.b.i. or other security agencies are caught with their pants down or even committing atrocious acts, they will always: (1) not directly answer questions, (2) quote policy instead of explaining specific actions and, (3) never ever admit in public to error or wrong doing. and they're so goofy as to think no one sees this as suspicious in itself. after all, anyone who has had dealings with them knows them as "the suits" for the unstylish, conformist clothes they wear.
