kill tens of thousands and it’s called foreign policy."

the pathetic weak ones
can a nation go to war and not have this effect the souls of those innocents at home most removed from battle? how many children lose their parents? how many children see the news and wonder how to justify religion with war? how many people become severely depressed knowing a whole nation is geared toward war, or that their leaders are lying to its citizens? do you think everyone in a war is just doing their duty? do you think that those who enjoy killing are a rare exception? do you think that when they come back that they settle down to a 9-5 job and wife and kids? you’re dreaming. there are thousands produced in every “action”, and they’re out there enjoying what they’ve always enjoyed. wolves among the soft civvies, the pathetic weak ones.

budget diagram showing that52 percent of your taxes go to war

it is very important to compare the large and small pie charts.

the govenment version includes the social security program, which is supported not by taxes but by withheld wages. it is totally separate.

and don't forget the BLACK BUDGET - the hidden budget that covers all those projects the military just has to have in order to save your country from...what? most likely we're talking about billions of dollars annually.

false reasons why war is good.more reasons.

all war - besides being insane - is fought over resources.

the first government of hawaii was the Dole Corporation.
do you think they worked hard to encourage democracy? or maybe were just satisfied with slavery.

“we must take hawaii in the interest of the white race.”
–roosevelt, president to be, as undersecretary of the navy.

it is official u.s.a. military policy to not count civilian casualties.
in a nation supposedly based on democracy, isn't this suppression of information the height of absurdity? since the iraq war (or was it before?) it is illegal for any media to cover the funerals of military personnel. this goes way, way beyond suppression of information. it is outright censorship, which supposedly the constitution does not allow.

                                                the “KILL INSANITY COMPLEX

if a society is known by how it treats its least members,
equally it is known by how people act without the common restraints.

what is meant here by “complex” is not a certain psychological syndrome, but the whole collection of phenomena that are part of any society that conducts war. essentially,
war does not happen just on the battle field.

the stories used to illustrate these categories are highly compressed and rearranged from the book nam by mark bake, published in 1981, with paragraph headings added. it is widely regarded as one of the best collections of first hand accounts of the vietnam war, and has been republished at least seven times. these are their words and no one else’s.

                                                             THREE MILLION WERE IN VIETNAM

an essential note on respect. the book begins, “this book is dedicated to those who cannot tell their stories and those who braved personal demons to do so.” the words were given in hard earned trust – “I’ve told you things I haven’t told my wife.” we think all patriots are insane, but we do respect any person who has been damaged - whatever the cause.

the catagories:

  1. hidden motives/deceit and "national feelings"
  2. atrocity - fun and trophies
  3. brutality
  4. standard massive, deadly incompetance
  5. insufficient training
  6. indifference of those not on the front lines
  7. thrown on their own afterwards
  8. destroyed souls - the change - field trained
more specifically
1.  there are only two motivations for war, idiocy and resources.
  • if the motivation is called "national ideology" it doesn't make it any less stupid. american "patriots" committed the GENOCIDE of the american indian, and one half fought TO KEEP THEIR SLAVES in the civil war. both the veitnam and iraq wars were/are fought over resources and industries controlled by the fantastically wealthy.
  • if goals require LYING, then everyone is subject to it, solders as well as citizens. in the very old days, before either country existed in their present form, peasants on both sides of the sino-soviet region were encouraged to fight with the words, "the enemy have huge scarlet heads and pointed teeth and they will eat you alive."
in either case, anyone devoted to "patriotism" is
purely
CANNON FODDER.

get used to the idea.
it's the same
everywhere.

2.  atrocity, mostly swept under the rug in the "modern" world, deserves first pride of place in characterizing war. it is what makes war "fun" and "manly." anyone saying otherwise lives in a cocoon.
3.  brutality is what happens when you deny a person's humanity, when they become a "thing." it can be just a look or deadly - like racism. or become stressed so much for so long that absolutely nothing matters. or death and even life itself becomes a joke.
4.  only when the full scope of incompetence is realized can it be raised from the level of occassional "errors." between the middle ages and WWII the most common path to becoming an officer was money, either inherited or scraped together - no training was required. napolian's "an army travels on its stomach" was considered a brilliant insight. the byword of WWII was "hurry up and wait." countless generals have lost millions of lives through sheer idiocy - the honored winston churchill's only accomplishment before becoming prime minister of england was to lose thousands of lives in a single lost battle. in vietnam it was commonplace for battles to begin with no strategy, or with imagined "intelligence."
5.  "conscription" is just a modern version of "impressment," or as they said in the old days, "you're coming with us." historically, for any but an elite unit to have ANY but minimal training was unusual. most combatants in WWI  had never fired a gun before their first battle.
6. and 7.  let's be honest. unless war comes home to roost, most civilians live on a different planet of self indulgence and oblivion, politicians are actually believed, and any "sacrifices" are what cannot be avoided. this applies equally to officers and military support personel. the stereotype of the "begging crippled veterin" was universal.
8.  after thousands of years PTS, post traumatic stress syndome, is only recently recognized. before it was just called, "crazy from the war, poor fellow," or just another "broken man." get it through your head that this is PERMANENT, and doesn't go away after a little
"adjustment to civilian life."

more on training

1. training includes a tough boot camp but there is nothing commensurate with how incredibly hard it is to be in the feild.
2.
it is not standard practice to include a period of of adjustment to widely different climates.
3.
there is no preparation for the horrors of combat.
4.
or equally, how survival depends absolutely on that preparation.
5.  there are no "good" reasons for war, and witnessing how everyone - soldiers, civilians, the enemy - is treated inhumanely is the towards both first stepatrocity and the permanent psychological trauma of the survivors.
6.  the ugly flip side of of all glory words is that dehumanization both home combatants and the enemy is THE CENTAL ASPECT of training.
7.  no one in the military gives real thought as to how combatants will re-enter society, possibly a much changed society, after the warping traumas of war.

history - why the above are true
all of these modern considerations are irrelevant to the historic attitude towards war.
  • war is glorious, patriotic, and the province of indomitable manhood. "real" men don't break down, and no one is supposed to ask if they committed any atrocities.
  • equally, the vast damage to both resources and culture is deemed irrelevant.
  • frankly, in the long history of the human race, war has simply been considered a NORMAL activity, with NO motivation required. sort of,
"i'm sick of farming. let's go kill someone and take what they have."
"we'll do whatever we want to whomever we want."
the doubtfull "ethos" of military life
on the surface the military put on a front of honor and patriotism, yet most governments in history have had a military basis, overt or otherwise. the more overt it is, the more the population suffers, and usually, the shorter the duration of the government.

underneath lie these thoughts:
1.
civilians are wimpy little idiots, barely worth notice.
2. civilians are dangerously naive about the "real" world.
3.  paranoia is the best policy. everyone is lying. if they don't get you today, they'll get you tomorrow.
4.  if innocents get hurt, that's just "collateral damage," a necessity of war. if anyone complains, ALWAYS SAY the soldiers were "just doing their patriotic duty" under the "rules of war."
5.  brutality is the best way to teach a man strength.
6.  brainwashing is the best way to teach dicipline and loyalty. tried and true techniques are:
  • destroying an individual's identity
  • sleep deprivation
  • constantly degrading both the recruit and the enemy
  • constant harassment
  • elimination of all culture besides obedience
  • the only auxiliary culture is alcohol and sex.
7.  a myth of the supremecy of valor, loyalty, and honor.
  • valor is defined as dying.
  • loyalty is defined as absolute abedience coupled with a total absence of diciplined thought.
  • honor is petty rules and "face" - largely used to to emotionally distract the solder from the fact that the first two don't make much of a life.
it is worth noting that the spartans
LOST.

we will begin with one story pulled from the second section:
                                                                          "we’re under heavy contact"
these gooks are riding by on a lambretta, like a motor bike but you sit people in the back. it was a baby san and a papa san, I guess, she was maybe about fifteen or sixteen. “we’re going to screw your daughter.” I think she was a virgin. we pulled her pants down and put a gun to her head.  guys are taking turns screwing her. all the vietnamese carried this ID card. so we ripped up his ID card. “hey, we got a VC here.” we shot him. we just started pumping rounds into him until the guy just burst open. he didn’t have a face any more. baby san, she was crying, so a guy just put a rifle to her head and pulled the trigger. we started kicking and stomping them. everybody was laughing about it. the captain says, “who’s going to get the ears?” we cut off one of her breasts. the next day we go through a village harassing women and killing guys. we shot him even if there was no VC there. if the people don’t treat you right when you walk through their village, you give them hell. they won’t say nothing to you, but they’re a little cold. as soon as we step outside the village, the captain radios in, “we’re under heavy contact”, and those phantom jets come in and drop 500 pound  bombs. we went on to the next one. we go back to Long Bin. the colonel is there to congratulate us. “you are in for a commendation.”

what we do when we're not killing
THE MILITARY IS THE GREATEST CAUSE OF VENEREAL DISEASE AND ABUSE OF SERIOUS, LIFE DESTROYING DRUGS IN AMERICA. even military personel are unaware that, even prior to viet nam, europe supplied american bases with an unending supply of HEROIN.
well known among "grunts" but not acknowledged to the public is that many officers, including a large proportion of drill instructors are RAGING ALCOHOLICS with no social skills who can't keep a marriage together.

THE SUICIDE RATE IN MILITARY PRISONS IS INCREDIBLE
people from all walks of life who crack under the harsh sadism of
some officers are punished for this by subjecting them to worse conditions and treatment.

"actually, it's a lot of fun to fight. you know it's a hell of a hoot to shoot some people. i'll be right up front with you, i like brawling."
                                   - marine corps  lieutenant general james mattis to a forum in san diego about the war on terror  ????

LESS THAN HUMAN - LESS THAN A CITIZEN - LESS THAN TRASH
anyone, anyone, even vaguely associated withe the military knows that once you sign your name you give up almost all civil rights

                                                                              - you are property.

they know how deeply and pervasively the idea of hierarchy is not just taught, but ingrained.

this is the essence of militarism.
your only purpose in life from that day forward is to follow orders and do nothing else.
kill or die - but especially don't think.
                                                                                        once you join up
                                               you are expendible.

the unofficial motto of the marines is:
"no better friend, no worse enemy",

but even kids know that the real motto is:
"we'll take any body that's warm".
only someone really dumb would need such a blatantly macho image. the other forces would be too embarrassed to use its like.
marines are the front line troops - cannon fodder. that's nothing to brag about.

EVERYWHERE AND ENDLESS

a study done in a scholarly fashion - by which we mean disciplined - showed that throughout history few people saw war in their lifetime, but failed to define the nature or scale of warfare. war depletes a population severely and destroys both an economy and culture, both effects lasting for generations
an equally scholarly study revealed that every ten years somewhere on the planet genocide takes places. together they balance out to show a fairly grim picture. this is on top of the fact that most people are still exhausted farmers. did stalin's purge of millions qualify as war, or simply life under endless brutal dictators everywhere? did anyone count the world wide depression that followed both world wars?

religious harassment is pervasive.

EMOTIONS HARDENED BY NECESSITY OR JUST PLAIN MADNESS?
during the vietnam war racist dehumanization was openly encouraged. "GOOKS" are not people, and you can't tell the good from the bad anyway, "they" all look alike so just kill them all.
trophies of body parts were allowed, ears and penises decorating helmets and uniforms. one renegade high ranking officer with his own fiefdom in the jungle when ordered to return to base sent back a hundred ears and in his memoirs, written in a "changed identity safe house", provided by the government, said only, "i wanted them to know i was being effective."
ONLY AN IDIOT WOULD THINK THAT THIS WAS NOT ENCOURAGED BY OFFICIAL, IF INFORMAL, POLICY.
THIS IS WHAT BEING A "REAL MAN" IS ALL ABOUT.

AND THOSE "REAL MEN" THINK YOU OR ANYONE WHO DISAGREES IS A WIMPY LITTLE...  well, that list is endless and not very polite. this is the same tradition that produced WHITE RACE RIOTS IN TWENTY SIX CITIES AFTER WORLD WAR TWO, with men in uniform prominant.

MORE REAL MEN
recently a covert film was uncovered of an initiation cerimony in the CANADIAN MILITARY, people who were to play a role as "peace keepers" in the middle east, in which prospects had nails driven into them.

                 THESE PEOPLE ARE REALLY DUMB.

VIETNAM and RACE
while white kids were getting college deferments, many afro-american soldiers report laughing platoon leaders ordering young kids from the ghetto to "take the point" - a term meaning to go ahead of a main detachment to deliberately draw enemy fire
                                                                   in other words,
                                                              a death sentence
the draft or simple recruitment is in reality a "poverty draft," a term that is becoming commonly accepted.

HONEST ! ! WOULD WE LIE TO YOU ?
aren't these uniforms great? and think of all the extra benefits! you can get an education ! you can learn skills that will get you a job after you get out. you will be serving your country and fighting for peace world wide. you'll travel and see fantastic new places. the food is much better than it used to be.

dumb kids
recently one bag stuffer at a grocery store,
barely in to high school, was overheard to say that a recruiter had told him pay scales "go up to 20,000 dollars a year." during the vietnam war one kid who was looking forward to a medical career was told, and believed, that army medics had a great survival rate. everyone, except dumb kids, knows that as soon as the enemy hears, "medic, help" on the battle field all fire converges on that spot.

is the military an exciting, honorable life? recruiters lie, that's their job.

credibility itself is subservient to the holy concept of rank.
during viet nam jet mechanics aboard aircraft carriers were continually pressured to falsify work records in order to make impressive quotas, thereby enhancing the carreer of the department head, and endangering pilots' lives.  one mechanic who complained "through normal channels"  had his carreer ruined, was forced to leave the service and was officially threatened with a court martial for
                                                    "persistently defaming an officer's character."

it's all a SHOW, and you're expendable
in vietnam, in a blatant sickness of  inefficiency/cost cutting/indifference, veteran soldiers in transport helicopters would sit on their helmets, because the chopper floors were not armored. anyone who didn’t would slump over in silence from ground fire. thirty five years later in iraq, with no nuclear arms race and no “cold war” to drain funds, the majority of vehicles are not adequately armored, and many soldiers feel compelled to buy their own person armor. and donald rumsfeld, the heartless secretary of defense, says,
“ we go to war with the army we have.”
if you know a messed up viet vet you might want to ask his opinion on this, or maybe better not.

your children are cannon fodder for the rich.

A BLINDING  HISTORICAL - RELATIVELY RECENT - EXAMPLE

the u.s.a. suffered when in the mideast arrogant u.s.a. soldiers were first killed by suicide bombers in beruit, but there was nothing but an
                                                      open gate
between the base and a part of the world that had been at war for millennia. no one thought this was poor military tactics so no officers were prosecuted for the hundreds of deaths

FALLING FROM THE SKY
repeatedly since before the first iraq war, often because of incidents in the u.s.a., the ENTIRE helicopter or fixed wing fleet has been grounded. THESE PEOPLE CAN’T EVEN KEEP THEIR PLANES IN THE AIR. HUNDREDS HAVE DIED, NEVER HAVING SEEN ENEMY ACTION, and the military continues to receive fantastic funding with no accountability.       many of these mishaps are laid to novice pilots in high tech aircraft, but that only begs the question of why the whole fleet is grounded and  why so many are killed.

A HISTORY OF DISPISING CIVILIANS
during WWII the american navy quietly slipped out of port in burma and abandons all civilians including a great percentage of women, leaving them to the japanese. no accounting is ever sought.

here's a funny one

EVEN MORE INTELLIGENT IN RUSSIA
in russia the most common reason, unofficially, given for becoming an artist is “i didn’t want to be raped and killed in the army”. people outside of the former soviet union remain totally oblivious to the fantastic rate of mysterious deaths within the armed forces. people wait in endless lines for nonexistent food. during the kursk submarine disaster, people were lied to by a matter of days about the date of explosion, the escape craft was welded to the submarine, oxygen regeneration kits were explosive if they touched water, and high officials at first refused to disclose hatch details that were necessary to an international rescue. the deaths occurred in only three hundred feet of water. at a public meeting the distraught mother of a deceased sailor was forcibly sedated. and the captain of a nuclear submarine is paid the same as a bus driver. see the articles in the page on "russia".

"but, surely mr. ward, as a responsible, adult citizen, you...  oh, forget it!"

mr. ward was the creator of the brilliant cartoon show “rocky and bullwinkle”,
which was definitely way above kids’ heads, yet unswervingly kind hearted, not
            to mention totally goofy.

now to mention some things that are even more disturbing, most telling facts.
at the point in history where world opinion condemns land mines, a movement which is gaining legal power through treaties, because after a conflict they remain to destroy and maim civilians of all ages and walks of life, what does the u.s.a. do but invents cluster bombs, which are delivered by both aircraft and missiles. unlike land mines they are purely ant-personnel weapons, very small and innocent looking - hence attractive to children, with each shell containing hundreds of little bombs. in vietnam people are still killed and children maimed for life by land mines from thirty years ago, yet now after the american intervention in the balkins the people we "saved" will be in unknown danger for,

like the vietnamese,
generations to come.

toxins sprayed on civilians.

bet you didn't know this. they don't want you to.
experiments on civilian populations were carried out, ostensibly to study the effects of bio-weapons. germs were sprayed in mass transit stations and ejected from airplanes over whole cities. experiments were done on uninformed soldiers with L.S.D. and other highly disorienting chemicals. after all, when you enter the military you sign away most of your civil rights. at least one person freaked out and jumped from an office window. this is just one of many documented cases that occured in both the u.s.a. and england.

extremely loud low frequency sound
is being studied for its ability to cause overwhelming nausea and vertigo. the proposal for this study specifically stated it was to be used not in war but
                                   to control riots.

this has all been documented and revealed in the press, but again, treated with a "soft sell" by the government.

blatant disregard
it is not just that public lands are polluted. the members of the armed forces are subjected to incredible amounts of hazardous materials and are subject to testing, without notification, of any substance or technique. depleted uranium shells on impact produce a great deal of dust which lands on your body and settles into your lungs. tons of dust is being produced in iraq, poisoning both soldiers and civilians.

MONEY DOWN THE DRAIN
the military, in the form of training and SAC, the stategic air command, just to keep planes CONSTANTLY in the air in the name of  "PREPAREDNESS", on fuel alone spends

                          FOUR BILLION DOLLARS PER YEAR.

                                                                                                    from "SHOTS"
by david fenton, former photographer for S.D.S.

                                                                                                    see the reading list.
                                                                                DRIVEN TO MADNESS AND SUICIDE

let's conclude with a word about military prisons. this may happen and it might not, it depends on the circumstances of imprisonment. in an institution like the military that is based on killing and making people capable of killing and where you sign over most civil rights on joining, military prisons are the sole province  and fertile ground of sadism., nothing less, and have an incredible suicide rate.

the military caste
“…my whole life as an artist has been nothing more than a continuous struggle against reaction and the death of art…in all my recent works of art, i clearly express my abhorrence of the military caste which has sunk spain in an ocean of pain and death.” - picasso

“guernica” is a painting by pablo picasso, which he was already working on at the time of the nazi german bombing of guernica, spain, by twenty-four bombers, on april 26, 1937 during the spanish civil war. it was estimated that between 250 and 1,600 were killed in the air raid and many more were injured.

this is a painting from the time of napolian's "glorious" wars of empire.

vietnam war memorial

the us government did not initiate or build the monument. april 27, 1979 the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund Inc. was incorporated to raise funds, mostly the work of a single individual. 8.4 million dollars were raised by private donations. it is managed by the National Parks Service. a design competition was held, the winner being Maya Ying Lin, of chinese heritage, and she was not named at or invited to the dedication ceremony - those dam slant eyes are all alike. it is incredibly beautiful, but contains none of the traditional elements of patriotism, consisting of two polished black granite walls with the names of the deceased engraved on it. the type of granite was chosen for its high reflectivity, which therefore blends images of the past and present. it is totally apolitical, and while many with public platforms have said it is ugly, the majority of vets who visit there say it issufficient to have a place to remember lost friends.”

ireland
almost no one realizes that the u.s.a. has nuclear missiles in northern ireland, a province torn by a literal civil war, and according to the oldest political customs, favors are granted to those who help to preserve the status quo. these troubles are always labeled religious, yet is it religion alone that brings crushing unemployment, violence that empties the streets and warps generations of young minds and brings the boot of the english army down on a populace with no official military of its own? there is no other place like it within western europe.

left. everyone knows what happened after that early warning. right. but don't tell anyone anything.
isn't that just peechy? china becomes a giant among trader nations and drags third world tyranny into the 21st century.

china
china now hasmost favored nation trading status. a nation where there is no legal system and prisoners are used as forced labor – there exist pictures of naked men in tanning vats.
where explicit party policy is that concern for human rights is part of decadent imperialism.” when moslems destroy ancient buddhist statues there’s an outcry, yet when a chinese dam destroys the most famous valley in the world, that goes to the heart of their culture in painting and poetry, this is progress. under their colonization of tibet a woman was arrested, taken from her children and put under heavy labor for having known the dalai lama. she accidentally steps on an arm band with a revolutionary slogan and is sentenced to seven years hard labor. the truth about tiananmen: to this day american media employ the stock expressionhundreds, possibly more...” were killed. tiananmen is a vast open plaza that can hold many thousands of people. the exits were blocked and tanks and machine guns were used to kill everyone, then huge black curtains were put up and ALL THE BODIES WERE BURNED to conceal the evidence. hospitals were told they would be prosecuted for aiding the wounded. anyone part of this system is more than a little sick. yet, when foreign students from africa tried to date chinese girls there were riots, and even students tend to look down on tibetans as uncivilized. so much for the oppressed masses yearning for freedom.

tiananman square, 1989.
it was not just happening in beijing. large protests occurred around the country, including in large cities. in beijing literally MILLIONS took to the streets,
defying martial law, to aid students and obstruct police. food and medical supplies were brought by car or just by hand. people leaned out of buildings to cheer. there was an amazing TOTAL absence of violence, or even negative or divisive behavior in the completely spontaneous event. truth be told, they behaved better than western protesters. even the official paper, believing in propaganda of change, wholly supported the protesters. local troops refused to attack peaceful citizens. the aged and pampered elite treated the protesters as little children with saccharine lies and insults.  when troops were brought in from distant provinces, many protesters were allowed to leave the square. then the killing began, which included the citizens of beijing. afterward the disappearances began.

REMEMBER THESE THINGS
the old russian regime was brutal in the name of expediency.
in CHINA the idea that is promulgated is that human beings HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO VALUE.

remember  these facts when you read an article in a glossy magazine about progress in china, or one in the wall street journal about how “most favored trading status” for china is good for AMERICAN BUSINESS, which of course is good for the people.

CHINA NOW EXPORTS MORE THAN 1/3 OF THE GOODS CONSUMED BY MODERN NATIONS.

it was more the tone of voice that convinced him that it was common.
an american visitor was told
after a seeming mild encounter with the police,
"that if a chinese had spoken as he had,
they would have been beating you by now
and using an electric cattle prod
against the face and genitals and feet,
their arms twisted behind their back
until the circulation stopped."

slave labor is an integral part of the new capitalism.
wardens and guards
are no longer strictly government employees, but have an investment in, and therefore an incentive to affect, the output of prison labor camps.
worked to death to break the spirit.
worked to death to harvest organs.
worked to death making products for export.

prisoners eat stale rice and moldy vegetables. one old man was so unused to food that he died from eating a SINGLE corn bun. people in fields, factories and mines work every waking hour. often even in enclosed areas they work in chains. if the factory or mine produces toxic substances, such as chemical fumes or coal or lead or asbestos dust, the prisoners are not given any protection. when a prisoner dies they are buried on the prison grounds.

HISTORY
- the red guard - unending chaos
the “cultural revolution” was an attempt to level society’s differences, but the method chosen was to use mob psychology to destroy practically everything – including family, tradition, and education. any sign of prosperity, education or failure of doctrine, or even just wild accusations or the settling of old scores, resulted in inconceivable brutality. a person could be swarmed by a mob merely for having eye glasses, or for being able to speak clearly. it ended in literally an orgy of uncontrolled violence where factions who had quickly forgotten the origin of their differences battled each other endlessly and all order was lost. this was not just a sporadic and confined phenomena, but engulfed the entire nation of china.
60 million people died during the turmoil of the sixties,
while mao, contrary to his self effacing public image,
lounged around in his pajamas surrounded by beautiful "secretaries."

“they threw me on the ground and pranced around me like savages. this was the heart of mao’s revolution – crazy people with clubs in their hands. other countries had rockets going to outer space, but china had street gangs burning books and torturing people.”
                                           - harry wu
                                              from ‘trouble maker’

a new dawn
after the cultural revolution burned itself out, mao proclaimed a new philosophy of let a hundred flowers bloom”, meaning let everyone think freely and contribute to the common good. but when after a time people had shown their true feelings,
it started all over again.
people were rounded up

public executionsa quota system
public executions are attended by thousands, and are regularly held before major holidays, and compete for attention with popular entertainments and sporting events. larger group executions are held in sports stadiums.
they were stopped in 1984 because of international publicity,
but were resumed in 1989 after the tienanmen square uprising.
it is known that in 2,300 municipalities there are 30 executions per month. multiply that times twelve.
there have been incidents demonstrating that there is a quota system, where towns that do not maintain their quota suffer repercussions.
the next of kin are not necessarily notified of an execution, but if they are then they must pay for the bullet that killed their relative.

sixteen crimes are punishable by death.
nine are listed as counter-revolutionary
.
a person can receive a death sentence for a single piece of graffiti.
a person can be sent to prison for life for being drawn into a public fight, for instance, for coming to a person’s rescue.

organ harvesting
organizations which have documented the following this information,
which include eye witness reports and interviews with expatriate doctors:

human rights watch, amnesty international, the media in japan and hong kong, the associated press, the lancet (international medical journal), transplantation review, the united nations, the british government, the canadian broadcasting company.

organ transplants from executed prisoners are now a BOOMING BUSINESS in china. it is part of documented policy to keep this secret from both foreigners and the chinese people themselves, who have an extremely strong tradition of burial and an abhorrence of both organ donation and cremation.
harvested organs are primarily for the elite or wealthy foreigners, who pay triple the standard price.

aricle about old korean woman prtesting japanese atrocities.

possibly
              20,000,000 killed
                    and
         100,000 women as sex slaves

no one knows the exact numbers because no one cares.

do you think these two things say something?

japan
these present day allies attacked china and were famous for butchering whole cities and PUBLICLY TORTURING CHILDREN, and during WWII rivaled the nazis in horrific medical experiments and had thousands of captured women as sex slaves for the troops - see "the rape of nanjing" in the reading list. the last they steadfastly refuse to make a public apology for. there is a STRONG movement in japan TO REMOVE ALL THIS FROM THEIR HISTORY BOOKS. even before this, high school students were taught that World War II was a "natural disaster" with no causes. there was a total ban on chemical birth control in japan, until their medical reviewers passed viagra as safe in a mere few months - the women of the country had something to say about that.  historical legal and social barriers remain for foreigners. the language itself inculcates an extreme classism. recently in a department store dolls were sold of thick lipped, grass skirted africans. this was defended by a high government official as a depiction of  agricultural races and they were only removed after international pressure. in japan the police get over a NINETY FIVE PERCENT confession rate, something unheard of in the most brutal dictatorships, such as stalinist russia. anyone can be held for three weeks without seeing a lawyer, and after being charged it is illegal to be seen by a reporter. the MEDIA are totally out of control, presenting  pure fiction as fact, RUINING PEOPLES LIVES WITH IMPUNITY, this made possible by the almost total lack of libel laws. litagation is unacceptable in a society based on conformism, and there are almost no lawyers. large media are diectly responsible for perpetrating incredible racist and imperialist attitudes that would be unacceptable, if only for appearances, in a total dictatorship. this is partly a remnant of the post world war II "cold war", when the u.s.a. totally controled the japanese media and completely disallowed criticism of the u.s.a. or EVEN THE AWARENESS THAT CENCORSHIP WAS TAKING PLACE. a nominal democracy, all scholars agree that all laws are made, not by politicians, but an intrenched unelected buracracy. in a nation where the economy is almost wholly based on industry, "pork," or funding through favors or connections, is the overwelming, irrational norm - over 60 percent of the coast of the country has been cemented over, road projects wind of into nowhere and stop, urban sprawl leaves no traditional architecture or neighborhoods.  japan is 1/20th the size of the u.s.a. yet spends 3-4 times its budget on "public works".

there is no accountability, local or international, in a culture whose very foundation is literally, bizarre as it may seem to outsiders, "propriety over reality" - there are a different grammer and vocabulary for the seldom spoken truth and the highly preferred collective conformity. this is the concept of "face", common throughout the world, taken to literally insane lengths.

like sardines is not a metaphore
this is a country where one normal form of employment is as a subway "pusher." whereas in other countries there is an attempt to reduce overcrowding, in japan the daily commuters are literally packed harder and harder into the subways by uniformed subway employees.

israel
the whole world has seen the ultimate example of how a people can become over time
the thing that they most hate. four generations of palistinians have grown up in refugee camps, and are subject to pass laws as harsh as any in the black labor pools of South Africa. again white washing has removed from most peoples consciousness that the state and even the leaders of israel began with what they point to as justification for these measures i.e. the bombing of schools, hospitals, buses and market squares. the retired minister of defense from the days of the Six Day War recently released his memoirs in which he said,

"THE DECISION WAS MADE AT THE HIGHEST LEVELS TO START A WAR FOR MORE LAND. THE TECHNIQUE IS AS OLD AS HISTORY, TO SEND MILITARY MISSIONS INTO FOREIGN LANDS AND WHEN THEY PROTECT THEMSELVES, CLAIM AGGRESSION.”

similar to israel the  new government of south africa has not freed itself from hate, and though black has continued the harsh treatment of it's citizens, with forced  evictions in poverty stricken neighborhoods, a high police presence, and totally double dealing politicians out for themselves. south africa refuses to acknowledge AIDS as anything but a "gay" problem, even questioning its existence, and consequently has the highest incidence of any african nationtions

IMPERIALISM, MANIPULATION AND SUPPORT OF HORRORS
as background, can anyone be unaware that the european nations were colonial powers right up to the

mid 20th century?

in vietnam the u.s.a. only took over france’s role. the facts bellow can only be explained by massive indifference.

the u.s.a. has engaged in assassination, military support of dictators, economic pressure, influence of elections, drug running, support/suppression of insurgents/unions at a whim, massive economic exploitation - including the products of slavery and sweat shops, outright conquest...  you name it.

this is a very short list of things that can easily be enumerated.

the most beautiful thing about the end of the vietnam war, if such a word can be used, is that as the last troops were leaving, or rather, running for their lives, they spotted some graffitti,
in english, saying:

"will the last G.I. to leave please turn
out 'the light at the end of the tunnel.'"

"the light at the end of the tunnel" was an expression popular with politicians of the time, used to describe the supposedly harmonious end to the war.
